MULITI-USE BUILDING

Construction has begun on a new $6 million athletic facility in the north parking lot of Fairhope High School.

From a December 2024 Fairhope Times report: "The Baldwin County Board of Education approved a $6.0 million contract to low-bidder (of eight) Rolin Construction to build the new multi-use athletic facility in the north parking lot at Fairhope High School on S. Greeno Road.

A gymnasium and weight training room are some of the anticipated uses; no construction timeline was mentioned.

Rolin is the same company doing the waterfront renovation project for the city.

Funding was from terms for the split of Orange Beach's new school system from the county's two years ago ($36 million to Baldwin County)."

Grew up w/ wood shop, metal and automotive other for ladies included cook and sewing. Not against sports but we need trades also. And no effort to go that direction.

Baldwin County just opened a $92 million vocational school in Loxley for this reason, as we understand it ....

Totally agree on buildings for trades like in the old days. Would reach more kids percentage wise than a sports facility. Too bad mom and dad don’t spend more time on chores for the kids around the house, and less on sports.

Very nice for Loxley, same investment should be in all High Schools just like sports programs are. They did it before so why not now?

The one in Loxey is available to all students throughout the county, transportation provided.

Children choose to go to school with those they grow up with. Factor in a 40-60 min bus drive nobody likes. And you begin to see the logic of every neighborhood H.S. equiped.
