SITE OF OLD 'RUBY TUESDAY'

Current company plans obtained by the Times for a new Chik-Fil-A restaurant at 901 Fairhope Avenue  Fairhope Avenue anticipate construction starting by September -- with completion in March 2026 (subject to change).

The city's building official says plans have been submitted for approval -- but he could not verify that timeline.

The old Ruby Tuesday building there now is to be demolished.

Look, I know many like Chik but that is the absolute worst location at that busy intersection. How will that work with three lines of cars wrapped around?
I'd take it south of town past the high school.

It is the company's decision where to put their stores; city planners are worried about traffic flow there though ... .

I'm surprised that the City has approved this restaurant at this particular location. It is a traffic nightmare already; Chick-Fil-A is my favorite but I think that the City will regret approving it on that corner.

Looking forward to it!

It’s a busy intersection, go around it.
Our current zoning overlords want all commercial on busy streets, preferably in high congestion centers. Got to live with it or try an figure how to get the unelected out of those positions…

I absolutely do not understand why the city would allow this to happen! Traffic is terrible everywhere downtown, this intersection will be a nightmare. Chicken is Chicken. Why not on down past the hospital?

Owners still decide what to do with their private property in America. Maybe you should move to China if you want everything government run?

We don’t want the traffic to “tread” on us. We need government to check the bad things that government does………….

Public health and safety are not the hallmarks of communist China; so, let's stop with the unuseful false equivalencies. Chik draws notoriously intense traffic at peak time--double lines of cars wrapped around their buildings. That's a testament to the popularity of their food, but it's not a death pact for a community with a representative government. The traffic flow on the east and north sides of that Plantation Pointe corner is already fraught. Accessing UPS or Piggly from that corner will be dangerous, with traffic possibly backing up onto Greeno. Self-congratulatory libertarian posturing does not change facts, and let's hope that it doesn't undermine good limited governance and common sense.

Bring it on! Looks like a perfect location!
