ONLY STREET LIGHTS REMAIN

A city engineer department spokesman told the Times installation of new street lighting at the new Veterans Drive roundabout will begin next week -- and should be completed by the end of the month.

The fixtures will be similar to ones installed at the city's main pier, except will have a bronze finish.

They had to be specially-made and are being shipped here now, he said.

Fixture style.

Tasteful. Charming. Quaint. Reflects how we all would like to feel about our hometown. But the City Councilmembers (minus 1) have betrayed their constituents by rezoning a ten acre Rural parcel (3 homes) to Residential (17 $1m homes).

So they are going to tear up newly installed turf to install lighting now? Makes total sense. #eyeroll

It turned out real well. Good job COF and all involved!

This is one very effective way to say "I know nothing about road construction" without saying "I know nothing about road construction."

It was obviously the best outcome; if this deal had fallen through, it could have been snapped up by DR Horton or another production builder and been zoned for 40 homes. The Council has to balance the rights of the property seller and those of the current residents.

How dare a property owner sell their land for money! It’s just so selfish.
