RIVER MILL NEIGHBORHOOD

The city council granted an easement to the Single Tax Corporation to allow construction of a new city park on CR 48 at the entrance to the River Mill neighborhood -- east of the Walmart store.

There will be three pickle ball and one basketball court, as well as a childrens' playground, pavilion, restrooms, and parking -- according to plans submitted.

No timeline was mentioned.

Before this project is started, I wish the City of Fairhope would fix up the Fels Toddler Park. It has climbing cubes with peeling/sharp rusty metal, seesaw which need a new coat of paint, an old metal slide which needs to be replaced with a plastic one because it is steering hot in the summer, some big sticks need to be picked up and fresh mulch laid down.

hopefully they reduce the speed limit to 35 on 48 in that area. Playground and bball court right next to 50+ mile an hour traffic doesn't seem like a great idea

There is a great park on Church Street (just a few blocks up from the Fels park) and all of the playground equipment has recently been upgraded and is in great shape. There are activities for toddlers also.

Who can do even do 35 mph in that area, there is too much traffic. Most of the time the drivers are doing about 15 mph. A mess.
