UNTIL SEPTEMBER MEETING
The controversial Baldwin County Master Plan update proposal was pulled from the August 6 Baldwin County Planning Commission meeting agenda -- but numerous citizens with concerns who had come to speak about it were heard anyway.
Chairman Steven Pumphrey said he had received a letter from several mayors asking for the delay (more time needed to review it) and several commission members had numerous inquiries from citizens too, so it was decided to delay it until next months meeting to try and resolve the confusion.
(Earlier this week, Fairhope Planning Director Simmons told the Times he had not had time to review it either.)
Pumphrey reiterated the county is required to have a master plan by state law but that it is just a guide not a regulatory document itself.
Citizens will get another chance to speak about it at the September public meeting in Robertsdale, Pumphrey said.
