MINIMAL DAMAGE FOUND
Once predicted to target the city directly, hurricane Isaias gradually shifted its aim eastward where it made landfall last night near Destin, Florida.
At dawn, there were some crooked signs and debris on some streets, but Fairhope suffered no major damage as far as we know; look for city parks to reopen later today.
The expected big storm surge in Fly Creek never materialized due to the storm’s Florida track and associated east wind here; the lack of rain here was attributed to “wind shear” on the storm’s west side by meteorologists.
