Council Approves Preliminary Road Paving List

PROPOSED ROADS SUBMITTED BY PUBLIC WORKS AND MAYOR

If bid costs exceed the $1.1 million alloted,  some may have to be cut.  Councilman Kingrea asked them to be prioritized before final approval by the Council. Such paving must be done in the warmer months to be effective.

STEEET SWEEPER/GAS BORING MACHINE APPROVED TOO

Bids will be sought for replacement of the city's unreliable street sweeper as well. Its needed to maintain the city's EPA storm water runoff permits (MS4) and clean up after parades and other such events, according to Public Work's Director Fidler.

A drilling machine to be used to expedite the replacement of old natural gas lines was also to be purchased. Gas Superintendent Steve Seay said they plan to double the rate of replacement of potentially dangerous lines in older neighborhoods.

I agree I see a big number in Rock Creek and Quail Creek and some of the newer subdivisions that the builders did a cheap job on before turning them over for city maintence. The city needs to do better inspections before acceppting them.
