FY 2013 BUDGET COMMITTEE APPOINTED
At Monday's council meeting, Council President Mixon appointed next year's budget committee (FY 2013, beginning Oct 1st of this year), to consist of the Mayor, all council members, Finance Committee Chairman Chuck Zunk, Stan Grubin and Gail Gardiner (Mixon to be Chairman).
Mixon asked the Mayor to have city staff look specifically at the Community Park playground on Church St. so that funds for much-needed repairs/improvements might be included in next year's budget.
Mixon: "I think everyone is aware that something needs to be done about the park ... now would be the time to do that ... while we're in the budget process ... ."
KINGREA QUESTIONS PARK'S SAFETY
Councilman Kingrea said that efforts to mediate a dispute between two citizens' groups interested in improving the park had fallen through; and suggested to the Mayor a safety expert may need to be hired to evaluate the structure as an alternative first step.
Kingrea: "... it's kind of a dead issue ... except for one thing ... I really think we should have a certified safety inspector look at that park ... to my uneducated eye ... it does not look safe ... need to do something to make sure the safety of the kids is not compromised."

Why haven't we heard from the 2 people who were against rebuilding the park? Did they get their way and just back out all together?
There was a group who did incredible work for this project and then got "shot down" so to speak!
Now, aren't y'all sorry?
