Holiday Preparations Being Completed

Fairhope, Alabama

Henry George Park

FOURTH OF JULY 2018 TOMORROW

Citizens were staking out choice viewing spots  this morning as city crews were finishing up preparations for tomorrow's festivities including the Baldwin Pops Orchestra in Henry George Park  on the bluff (7PM) and fireworks show later (9PM) ... weather permitting.

Beaches had been dragged and cleaned ... and were mostly free from debris and other "organic" material.

"The City of Fairhope will celebrate the Fourth of July with a stunning fireworks display, beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4. The Baldwin Pops Independence Day Concert will begin at 7 p.m. with special guest Alabama 151st Army Band."

Organic material....Is that Fairhope fancy talk for litter or goose poop? Just curious.

Yet there are still no accommodations for disabled vets to attend ,use the bathrooms that they have to pay to get to.This has been requested to the city for several years now,yet the ADA was made into law 30 years ago. What a wonderful way to thank a vet for their service in the lovely so called Carmel of the south.

I do not get the fascination of fireworks. All of the debris fallseverywhere and pollutes the water with sulfur and paper. The animals go crazy, not knowing what is going on. EVERYONE Is forced to hear all of the noise wether you like it or not. As a child I remember hating them because it scared our dog so bad. I would sit on the porch holding him until the noise went away. It is sad that you are forced to hear all of the crap and you can’t escape it.

"Organic Material" must mean goose feces. It only takes a few hours for our local flock of geese to fertilize the beach again. All the beach cleaning did not remove the goose "organic material" from the streets in our park, so tonight spectators will smear their shoes and spread it further. I can't imagine walking in our park without shoes :( Maybe Lynn Maser needs to take over this "special project" and rid our beach of these pests.

I walked down there this morning. I saw very little goose feces but I was able to avoid stepping in a large pile of dog feces by paying attention. I'm hoping one of the goose haters ends up knee deep in it.

The only pest are the arrogant people that think that they are superior . Stay at your house and do us all a favor that way you won’t step in goose poop. It is a bay , they are in their home , you are visiting. Deal with it or stay home
