Municipal Pool Building Repair Underway Too

Fairhope, Alabama

LATEST BUILDING TO GET ATTENTION

After years of delay repairs to the municipal pool building have started, joining several other projects currently underway ... including the library, golf clubhouse, and park restrooms.

Gailliard Builders was awarded the repair bid, for $155,936, last month.

July 2016
Roof soffits at the rear of the building collapsed about two years ago and had to be shored up with two by fours; there was no hazard for occupants of the building however.

Moisture buildup overhead inside the building due to poor ventilation caused corrosion of the metal supports and connectors holding up the facade.

Better building maintenance has been made a priority by the current administration, possibly by adding a new building maintenance department.

How is it that Fairhope has a building inspection department and yet all of these buildings were clearly never build correctly? Who oversaw these inspections?

Perhaps we should be asking who built them? I'd be curious to see the names of the companies that got the contracts.

Building inspectors are not very good. They have allowed sewer pipes to be put in that collapse or egg shape and cause major problems.

High moisture coupled with high free chlorine is a recipe for corrosion. If the switched to salt water, it would be just as bad.

They dont use chlorine

I watched the worker cover up old insulation full of mold yesterday with new gypsum board. No one was inspecting anything as usual. Not to be mean but the two workers probably are not even citizens. Never seen a foreman anywhere
